About Me

Hi! I'm Maile (pronounced Miley) Schalm, and I am a nursing student with a minor in public health at the University of Cincinnati. I am from Dayton, Ohio, however, I have lived all over the country thanks to my dad's career in the military. Before the age of six, I lived in Hawaii, Rhode Island, Maryland, Virginia, and Ohio. I attribute my love of travel and new experiences to these influential years of moving around.

As a part of the UHP, I hope to become a more well-rounded individual by taking classes and self-creating experiences that cater to my passions and interests outside of my major. This will allow me to discover the things that motivate and inspire me and help me better understand the world around us.

In my free time, I enjoy yoga, cooking, hiking, and anything that allows me to explore the outdoors. At the University of Cincinnati, I am involved with the Campus Recreation Center as a yoga instructor, I volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and I am an ambassador for the College of Nursing.
